SELECTION ENGINEERING

Choose around the component.

01

Separate blank length from cutting length

Distance between centres and maximum workpiece length do not automatically equal usable cutting length. Allow for chuck jaws, tailstock, tooling and the approach distance needed at each end.

02

Plan support for long shafts

A long or slender component may need a steady rest or follow rest. Provide the blank diameter, mass and support locations so the team can review the fixture and machine arrangement.

03

Define the workshop requirements

Check floor loading, lifting access and electrical supply against the exact machine layout. Confirm turret, chuck, controller and guarding in the quotation instead of assuming every catalogue option is included.

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Machine selection FAQ

Which models are in this range?

CAK40/65, CAK50/100, CAK63/285, CAK80/150. Use each model’s technical table to compare the published reference configuration.

Which dimensions should I send for machine selection?

Distance between centres and maximum workpiece length do not automatically equal usable cutting length. Allow for chuck jaws, tailstock, tooling and the approach distance needed at each end.

Are controllers, tooling and accessories included?

The supplied controller, chuck or fixture, turret or magazine, coolant equipment and installation support must be listed in the quotation. Ask the team to identify standard equipment and separately priced options.

Can you confirm accuracy or cycle time from a catalogue?

A catalogue is a starting point. Provide your drawing, material, tooling assumptions and inspection method. Agree sample machining and measurable acceptance criteria in the technical agreement.

What happens after I shortlist a machine?

Send the model names with your component details through the enquiry form. The team can review capacity, process, configuration, installation requirements and delivery terms before preparing a quotation.
