Begin with a representative drawing
Include material, finished dimensions, critical tolerances and surface finish. Mark the features that matter most and identify whether blanks are cast, forged or cut from bar.
Separate travel from capacity
Swing diameter, maximum turning diameter, cutting length and axis travel describe different limits. Check tool clearance and workholding as well as nominal capacity. A larger swing alone does not prove that the finished part can be machined.
Specify the process
List turning, drilling, milling, threading and finishing operations. Confirm whether the quoted configuration includes the turret, driven tooling, axes and accessories needed for those operations.
Review tooling and control
Agree chuck size, bar capacity, tool interface, magazine or turret capacity, and controller. Options shown in a catalogue are not necessarily included in the quoted configuration.
Prepare the installation
Review the foundation, machine footprint, lifting route, electrical supply, compressed air and workshop environment against the specific technical agreement.
Agree acceptance and support
Record the sample workpiece, inspection requirements, training, acceptance sequence, warranty and delivery terms. Use the signed specification as the basis for approval.
